Description

In Richard Barr: The Playwrightrsquo;s Producer; author David A. Crespy investigates the career of one of the theatrersquo;s most vivid luminaries; from his work on the film and radio productions of Orson Welles to his triumphantmdash;and finalmdash;production of Stephen Sondheimrsquo;s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Explored in detail along the way are the producerrsquo;s relationship with playwright Edward Albee; whose major plays such as A Zoo Story and Whorsquo;s Afraid of Virginia Woolf Barr was the first to produce; and his innovative productions of controversial works by playwrights like Samuel Beckett; Terrence McNally; and Sam Shepard. Crespy draws on Barrrsquo;s own writings on the theatre; his personal papers; and more than sixty interviews with theatre professionals to offer insight into a man whose legacy to producers and playwrights resounds in the theatre world. Also included in the volume are a foreword and an afterword by Edward Albee; a three-time Pulitzer Prizendash;winning playwright and one of Barrrsquo;s closest associates.

Hello my fellow jazz guitar fans!By K.K.Slider Fan ClubThis book has a nice set of jazz guitar classics that will keep you busy for hours. Standard guitar notation and tab is included.I specifically wanted to learn to play Barney Kessels "On a Slow Boat to China" as it appears on the 1954 Barney Kessel album; Kessel Plays Standards. The transcription is dead on and I am happily soloing to my hearts content. The CD play-along backing band is fun to jam with. Well worth the money.4 of 5 people found the following review helpful.
