Literacy in the New Media Age (Literacies)

ebooks Literacy in the New Media Age (Literacies) by Gunther Kress in Arts-Photography

Description

It has been argued that the history of landscape and of gardens has been marginalized from the mainstream of art history and visual studies because of a lack of engagement with the theories; methods and concepts of these disciplines. This book explores possible ways out of this impasse in such a way that landscape studies would become pivotal through its theoretical advances; since landscape studies would challenge the underlying assumptions of traditional phenomenological theory. Thus the history and theory of twentieth-century landscape might not only once again share concepts and methods with contemporary art and design history; but might in turn influence them.A complementary sequel to Relating Architecture to Landscape; this volume of essays explores further areas of interest and discussion in the landscape/architecture debate and offers contributions from a team of well-known researchers; teachers and writers. The choice of topics is wide-ranging and features case studies of modern and contemporary schemes from the USA; Far East and Australasia.

Subtly Humorous Outstandingly IntelligentBy Masoud Abarghouei NejadOscar Wilde has to be among few writers who can keep you smiling; thinking; wondering; entertained and amazed at the same time. The book starts with the title story which is funny in being outrageously silly while boasting a rich text. Each story is original and shows off Wildes great hand in creating interesting and round characters. The last story is on a whole different level It must be said. How about Cyril Grahams theory that managed to convert me as well. All in all this is as good as a collection of short stories could get. 5/5.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great collection of storiesBy AnonymousThese stories are fun; witty and short. Excellent for a lazy afternoon of reading. I would recommend to anyone who wants to evaluate Oscar Wildes style before committing to one of his novels.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. So much fun!By KRGOscar Wilde never fails to surprise and amuse! Cleverly imagined and; as always; ingeniously written. One of the few writers who can give a character life and depth with just a few strokes of his pen. I especially loved the story centered around Shakespeares sonnets.
