Concise and usefulBy Emma HardestyThis slim book of 143 pages is absolutely pertinent to anyone interested in any aspect of the early dwellings of non-natives during Colonial times. From casual interest in the beauty and variety to actual details of construction--from roofs to overhangs to windows and doors (it only lacks in many details about flooring) This info can well be used by persons sleuthing out clues about the age of structures as well as those whod like to emulate some of the elements in new construction. The lover of old hand-tools will surely be inspired as well. I kept a magnifying glass nearby to look closer into the many photos; and the architectural glossary keeps this book essential.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A classicBy David ArbogastThis book is a classic which deserves to be in the library of any serious student of American architecture. That said; it is also quite dated; and reflects the ethos of its period (early twentieth century). As a time capsule; it is fascinating. As a wellspring of new information; not so much.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy buttermilkGreat reference book!!!
