There are hints of sarcasm that can help ease the dullness of subjects like managing loans. As dry as some of the material can be; Genoways and Ireland do a great job covering the various aspects included in the running of a museum. I would highly suggest this book to anyone in the museum field.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A bit outdatedBy B. CromerThis was an assigned text so probably one of the better texts available in the opinion of my professor...but it was published in 2002 and has too much outdated information. The general principles and theories are well covered and exercises are interesting. The writing is very clear and relatively jargon-free. A minor quibble is the layout: pages of widely spaced chapter endnotes which should have been condensed in a much smaller type.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very informativeBy C. ManningThis book is filled with great examples; exercises and information. It makes you think about circumstances and situations that you would never ordinarily even consider. Gave me a "rounded" impression of the admistrative needs within the museum "world". Really good for someone like me; who has never worked in a museum; per se; but now finds themselves (luckily) working in a related field. Highly recommend.
