The most thorough public image documentation Ive seen in more than 17 years of searchingBy CustomerIve been familiar w/ the Isle of Lewis Chessmen for over 17 years Ive never found a book that has photos of EVERY piece of the find; dimensions such great written details. Ive looked at many books over the years about this cache of chessmen this is the 1st book that is readily available for purchase not part of a private library collection that has a photo of every piece.There are several versions of replica chessmen available; but they all seem to use only some very common pieces the same ones from the few manufacturers. It tells the history of the set; where it is from; and includes great pictures. However; the Kindle edition fails the illustrations: theyre tiny and you cant zoom in. Also the illustrations; helpfully numbered as Figures; should be hot-linked to the text. Another issue with the Kindle Edition is that the Table of contents is very difficult to find. This is an issue in many Kindle editions.
