Madness and Creativity (Carolyn and Ernest Fay Series in Analytical Psychology)

PDF Madness and Creativity (Carolyn and Ernest Fay Series in Analytical Psychology) by Ann Belford Ulanov in Arts-Photography

Description

He achieves the miraculous; the sculptor Auguste Rodin wrote of dancer Vaslav Nijinsky. He embodies all the beauty of classical frescoes and statues. Like so many since; Rodin recognised that in Nijinsky classical ballet had one of the greatest and most original artists of the twentieth century; in any genre.Immersed in the world of dance from his childhood; he found his natural home in the Imperial Theatre and the Ballets Russes; he had a powerful sponsor in Sergei Diaghilev - until a dramatic and public failure ended his career and set him on a route to madness. As a dancer; he was acclaimed as godlike for his extraordinary grace and elevation; but the opening of Stravinskys The Rite of Spring saw furious brawls between admirers of his radically unballetic choreography and horrified traditionalists.Nijinskys story has lost none of its power to shock; fascinate and move. Adored and reviled in his lifetime; his phenomenal talent was shadowed by schizophrenia and an intense but destructive relationship with his lover; Diaghilev. I am alive he wrote in his diary; and so I suffer. In the first biography for forty years; Lucy Moore examines a career defined by two forces - inspired performance and an equally headline-grabbing talent for controversy; which tells us much about both genius and madness. This is the full story of one of the greatest figures of the twentieth century; comparable to the work of Rosamund Bartlett or Sjeng Scheijen.

I Might Actually Be Able to Play For Church NowBy Joshua KThere are a lot of hymns here; simply arranged and easy to play if you know your chords in the key of C.Our church has been without a pianist or any other accompanist for two years. I have been trying to get good enough at piano to play sometimes; and this book should allow me to do that.If you have a semi-decent keyboard; the fact that all the songs are arranged in C shouldnt be a problem; because your keyboard probably has the option to automatically transpose as you play. This is like putting a capo on a guitar. You can play in other keys while still using the chord fingerlings you are used to.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I love this hymn bookBy Tashua PYES! YES! YES!! I love this hymn book! I bought this for some beginner piano students but I found myself really enjoying using it myself. It is one hand; C-major playing. Some songs require a lot of moving; others dont move at all. Also; for more advanced students there are chord indications that allow them to arrange the song as they please. This is a great way to introduce theory.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful bookBy Carolyn WarnockI just love these fake books in the key of C. I play a song at church as they take up offering. This book makes it so much easier than trying to play out of a regular song book. I cant do complicated playing so this book has been such a big help to me.
