What you need to know about tornadoes in a succinct and fascinating format!By Pat CarrollIve always been fascinated by tornadoes; and this book is outstanding for older children and teenagers as well as adults like me! Its laid out in a logical; readable manner with explanations of what a tornado actually is; how its formed; its "life history" (ranging from a few minutes to several hours); and what it can do when it strikes the earth. It was surprising for me to learn that the most powerful tornado documented was in Bangladesh; of all places; as I expected it to be in the US where most of them occur (in "tornado alley"). The narrative is appropriate for most age groups although very young children may not comprehend the more technical information. However; the photographs are absolutely stunning and can be easily interpreted and explained by an adult reader. In my opinion; theres just enough narrative to make it really interesting; but not enough to bore any reader. Rather; the book stimulates ones curiosity; and in my opinion would make him or her anxious to learn more about this unique and common weather phenomenon; and also recall the books instructions of what to do when threatened by a tornado. I personally wish Id had access to this succinct but complete information as a young person; as well as the beautiful but breathtaking pictures of not only the storms but the destruction they can cause.I did receive this ebook at a free or discounted price for my unbiased review. The opinions offered are my own.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A lot of interesting facts in this illustrated bookBy Burns WellThis is an excellent book for anyone interested in tornado; weather; storms; or nature. There is a ton of information on tornadoes; including the various categories of tornado; the methods used to measure their strength; their range in terms of size and distance traveled; safety information; and where they occur most frequently. I was surprised by some of the facts in this book that I never knew about tornadoes; and Im glad I read it. The book is also illustrated with some impressive pictures of tornadoes; both over land and water; as well as pictures of tornadoes forming and their aftermath.I consider this book to be of use to anyone of any age. However; the book may be especially suited to children; since it could increase their understanding as well as curiosity about tornadoes and natural phenomena in general. If you think you child may be interested in learning about tornadoes; it would be a good idea to get this book and inspire that child to develop some curiosity about our planet and its weather.I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great books; excellent picturesBy Patty SmileDownloaded book to my tablet in my kindle app. Took maybe 30 seconds to download. Love the instant delivery. The book was free when I downloaded it as well. Cant get enough of free books. This book is has awesome pictures. The pictures are amazing. Some of if then add so up close; your thinking hour can you nut be killed getting that picture? What are you thinking? The are a bunch of fun facts to learn about mixed in with the pictures. I home school some of my children and this can be a great learning tool for them. I think the pictures will be what gabs the kids. And it is currently tornado season here; so great timing to learn about them. The book isnt too long; only 50 pages; including all the picture pages; and title page and back blank page. The book describes several different kinds of tornados or similar occurrences. I just cant get over the pictures and how beat they are. Warning there are pictures if the destruction it also can lead to as well. I would say this book is for 1st-3rd grade kids. Definitely elementary age and depends on reading level.
