A competent book on how MIDI is used in the modern worldBy CustomerThis is a very comprehensive; wide-ranging book on how the MIDI protocol is used in the modern music world. It covers the protocol; early history; early instruments (keyboards mostly); modern instruments (eg MIDI drums; guitars; and other instruments); modern MIDI software tools; MIDI for music composition; playing; and music production; use to control stage lights; videos; and other non-music devices and services; editing MIDI; and on and on. I learned a lot about how MIDI is used almost everywhere in the modern music / video / stage production world.Of course the book is a bit dry in places; but how could any book of this depth on a topic like this NOT be dry and technical in places?I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about how MIDI is used everywhere; and what kind of modern MIDI tools and instruments are available.3 of 4 people found the following review helpful.
