Immensely enjoyable - an EXPANDED Downton Abbey!By CustomerJulian Fellowes has crafted a wonderful book of the scripts from Season One of the hit show. This includes whole scenes and huge amounts of dialogue that were not filmed or were cut. (These portions are unobtrusively indicated by a bar to the left side of the script.) While some of it may not have been strictly necessary for the show; its all of great interest to read and expands our knowledge of the characters; their back-stories and the goings-on at the manor. But the best part of the book are the extensive notes; remarks and comments by Lord Fellowes. I learned a lot about English country life and other matters; and it is fascinating to become privy to the creative process of this gifted and entertaining writer. I hope the later seasons are similarly published. Yes; I loved watching the series very much; but I promise you that this fine volume will extend your enjoyment in many directions. A surpassingly fine entertainment!17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Perfect complement to the series!By Corey A. BalazowichI purchased this book on pre-order after my Downton binge after watching the finale of Season 3 (UK time). I was elated when it finally arrived and dove into it almost immediate because I needed a Downton Fix. Yes; I realize how silly I sound. This script hit the spot and even exceeded my expectations.I love the way this script is formatted; it runs alongside the series and if scenes were moved around; they are moved around in the script as well so you arent confused. There are extra scenes included and are easily spotted by a small sidebar alongside it. In addition; there are comments about certain scenes through the book as well as a backstories behind the history of the times and why they did what; even confession a few mistakes they made. There are a few plots that become a bit clearer; including the one that befuddled me the most - what exactly DID Pamuk and Mary do? That answer was worth the book cost alone! Maybe Im just stupid but I was always wondering how far they went and that is all answered here. Well; I think. LOLDefinitely pick this book up if you are a fan of Downton Abbey. Now if only Season 2s script wasnt SO far off in the distance!16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. A must have for fans!By gluvineI was so excited to see that this book had come out. I love the series and was looking forward to reading the scripts. These are the expanded versions - so there are some added extra scenes and dialogue. There is also some great commentary by the writer that explains certain scenes; character decisions; and historical facts. It also describes the scenes and characters. It is really fun to see what the original thought was behind the episodes that I love so much. I got the kindle version and it is great. I cant wait for the other 2 seasons to come out. I would recommend this to anyone who loves the show. It is also a great way to ease the withdrawl symptoms one has as they finish up a season and have to wait for the next one to come on!!
