A HEADACHE of a bookBy LoriI wanted to like this book; I really did; and a lot of it I enjoyed when I wasnt popping Tylenol in my mouth from the headache it gave me. I got into the Runaways when I was in college and was so fascinated by them. I thought they were so cool and I wanted to be like them. Little did I know all the drama going on behind the scenes. Reading this book I learned a lot of new things that I didnt know before; but its written in a manic; crazy rock and role style that doesnt flow properly. It feels like youre at a punk show; and trying to interview people around you... but you cant hear them properly and they keep moving around high as F.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. I read Cheries book Neon Angel and loved it and when i heard this book was coming out i was stoked beyond belief. Finally; a book comes out with all the little tidbits you have ever wanted to know about the band that The Runaways that is of legendary and mythic proportions. It covers things like info. about The Runaways recording contracts; royalties; the very first movie about them (not the 2010 movie); kari krome (who ive always wondered about) and tons more. The book is beautifully presented as a hardcover book with a glossy; textured jacket and it will be displayed proudly on my shelf of books. If you are a fan of The Runaways you must stop what you are doing now and order this book. HardWith the help of WNEW ( radio station ) I can honestly say if it wasnt for Scotts O ( Scott Munie and Carol Miller ) top djs at this radio station; I probably would not have found out about the Runaways until a later date.The Runaways are a huge part of my growing up and going through some very personal and painful situations; their music got me through. And as todayJoan Jett The Blackhearts huge part of my adult life.I was 12 years old when the Runaways got together; I was so impressed with what they did back then and even today the raw talent these groups had/have to this day.I grew up on ROCK music from CSNY; JANIS JOPLIN; HENDRIX; THE WHO; PINK FLOYD; FLEETWOOD MAC; NEIL YOUNG AND CRAZY HORSE; the list goes on and on. The Runaways definately belong next to these groups as well.This book brought back alot of great memories and remembering the day I stood outside CBGBS in 1976; I could not get in the club;the place was packed; and its true what Joan Jett said; the people were hanging off the rafters inside. I could see that from the street looking in.Evelyn gives a blow by sweet blow of every nook and crany of The Runaways lifes; I dont know if I could have survived what they went through as a band ( family )I give the book 5 stars; I think you did one hell of a job Evelyn; loved it.NewYorkJettster~
