Metal on Ice: Tales from Canada's Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Heroes

audiobook Metal on Ice: Tales from Canada's Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Heroes by Sean Kelly in Arts-Photography

Description

One Zentangle A Day is a beautiful interactive book teaching the principles of Zentangles as well as offering fun; related drawing exercises. Zentangles are a new trend in the drawing and paper arts world. The concept was started by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas as a way to practice focus and meditation through drawing; by using repetitive lines; marks; circles; and shapes. Each mark is called a "tangle;" and you combine various tangles into patterns to create "tiles" or small square drawings. This step-by-step book is divided into 6 chapters; each with 7 daily exercises. Each exercise includes new tangles to draw in sketchbooks or on tiepolo (an Italian-made paper); teaches daily tile design; and offers tips on related art principles; and contains an inspirational "ZIA" (Zentangle Inspired Art) project on a tile that incorporates patterns; art principals; and new techniques.

The point of the book is to give you tips "for taking the best pictures of your life" and it does just that. It doesnt really focus on the technical aspects about photography which makes it different from other photo books and is something I enjoyed. This book is about telling a story with your photographs and capturing those special moments that are constantly disappearing. Lange encourages readers to always keep shooting and look for the in-between moments that make a picture truly memorable. The design of the book is simple; clean; and beautiful and is easy to just flip through or read cover-to-cover. I recommend this book to any photographer looking to capture simple moments of life with a new perspective.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. In the beginningBy william crawfordIn the beginning when you first picked a camera when you didnt know the rules. It was exciting;free and fun. That is what this book is about. When you know enough about your craft; you know when you can break the rules. He insist on natural light and sometimes strange angles. How he becomes one with his subject is worth a study in itself. Dig a bit deeper and consider carefully the simple words he has written.there You will find a wonderful philosophy. So if you have reached a stage in your journey with photography you find yourself at a point where burn out looms; buy this book. The photography is wonderful but his simple approach and love of people is the pot of gold in this book. I have often said that I fall in love two or three times a year; in his case its every person he photographs.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. GREAT GIFTBy SharonaI bought this for my Father for the Holidays. He is loves photography but lets say his pictures need.... some work. It broke my heart to see him so invested but his pictures turn out so poorly. He LOVED this book. His first response was that he loved that it didnt ask him to buy a fancy camera or make big purchases. He felt he could really use the tips and he likes how easy it was to look at and the examples. He told me it was a good teacher. I felt great I could get him something that he could use and maybe this year everyone will be in focus with their heads intact....
