Myth into Art is a comparative study of mythological narrative in Greek poetry and the visual arts. Thirty of the major myths are surveyed; focusing on Homer; lyric poetry and Attic tragedy. On the artistic side; the emphasis is on Athenian and South Italian vases. The book offers undergraduate students an introduction both to mythology and to the use of visual sources in the study of Greek myth.

Its a classic for a reasonBy Nathan ParkerOstensibly about sculpting life-sized animals; but also contains sections on enlarging from maquette to full-sized sculpture via pointing; and on making plaster waste-molds and plaster casts of your sculptures. Some good anatomical reference for the three animals covered (horse; lion; and bull); lots of golden tips from a successful sculptor of the Academic tradition; and much of interest to anyone interested in historical sculpture techniques. Some of the recommended materials may be hard to obtain these days (lead tubing; black soap; Brunswick black); but a little research can identify modern equivalents for anyone wanting to use Lanteris methods exactly.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.
