I am fortunate enough to own a few of his originals and prints; and now this great book. The images alone are worth the price. The text and maps are a bonus. If you are one of us who thinks fish are beautiful; then this is a book for you. Most of us are familiar with the elegance of trout; widely extolled; and the rough-hewn beauty of bass; but sunfish? Chub? Catfish? Carp? In Thompsons hands they are all worthy of admiration; as they are in their own right; if only we would take a closer look; laying angling prejudices aside. With Thompsons help; in this book; we can take that look.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Book and Conversation StarterBy BuccoI love this book. The life like illustrations alone are worth getting it for. On top of that it goes through a decently detailed description of the primary freshwater fish in North America. Dont be mistaken; this is more coffee-table book than reference book. It is large and primarily made for looking at. Even friends of mine that are not fisherman found the book fascinating; as they were not aware of the sheer number of different types of fish in America.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
