Description

This superb collection is a reproduction of 60 plates from the lavishly illustrated three-volume set Chants et Chansons Populaires de la France; first published in Paris during the early 1840s. Generally regarded as one of the finest illustrated books of the Romantic period; it is often compared with the masterpieces of 18th-century book illustration. In this rare French edition; pages of commentary and musical arrangements accompany the exquisite engravings. The original French texts of the songs; bordered by these lovely 19th-century illustrations; have been omitted here. What is left are unique vignette borders that may be used in a wide variety of graphic projects. The selection of these 60 plates has been made with an eye toward retaining the finest works from the original collection and providing those designs that will best serve the needs of todays artists and designers.

Breathtaking Photography from the Macro WorldBy Tim MarshallI love "how to books" with rich illustrations that do justice to presenting ones techniques... and this book does not dissappoint! Mr. Davis shares not only his passion for the craft; but great insite into his motivations for how he conceives; masters; and even by what he himself is often surprised of in the final results. This book shows what many fail to ever take much notice of in the world around them and is even more richly possible with all the fine photography hardware and software available today. Enjoy this book and be inspired and motivated to go exploring down into another world within our own!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Awesome BookBy WoodyCWAwesome Book and Harold Davis is an incredible photographer and teacher. Very easy to read and understand. Learned so much from this book!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. a different worldBy Graham.Taarnbysome of the images shows promise; some were too arty for my taste. some one else may feel different.. Arty is good if it looks like thats what the photographer intended.. arty in this book sometimes looked as if it was not a mistake but near enough to what I meant. I have not tried to do any of the ideas in the book.
