With traditional German thoroughness Pfister analyses and categorises the wide range of different elements that go together in creating a theatrical performance. Some might find his detailed charts a bit too semiotic in orientation; and the translation from German results in rather long complicated sentences. However; Pfisters genuine understanding of dramaturgy and dramatic tools makes fascinating reading. The books comprehensiveness also makes it an excellent tool for analysing written and staged drama.
