audiobook Paisleys and Other Textile Designs from India (Dover Pictorial Archive) by K. Prakash in Arts-Photography

Description

The Last Laugh is the first and only book to take readers deep into the bizarre universe of the standup comic; from the classic years of Milton Berle; Sid Caesar; and Shecky Greene; to todays comedy superstars. Phil Berger shows how styles and trends in standup have changed over the past fifty years; but how taking the stage in a comedy club is as tough as its always been. Performers profiled in the book include Woody Allen; Lenny Bruce; George Carlin; Elaine Boosler; Robert Klein; Bill Cosby; Billy Crystal; Dick Gregory; Andy Kaufman; Steve Martin; Cheech and Chong; Eddie Murphy; and a host of others. Filled with comics hilarious routines and anecdotes; this substantially updated edition also chronicles the lives and careers of more recent artists; including Richard Lewis and Jay Leno.

A few books I have come across touching upon similar genres contain buildings that are probably too experimental for my liking something this one manages to avoid by having an interesting mix of places that are yes organic whilst containing a certain form and pattern; and blending into their environments. Anyhow a big thanks to Alans Hess and Weintrub for their efforts in compiling this excellent collection of other wordly dwellings; its exactly what I was after and something I will keep going back to as the years pass.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful survey of Organic ArchitectureBy Anthony ThompsonThis book offers a broad survey of American organic architecture beginning with; of course; Frank Lloyd Wright. Its chief limitation is that it skips many great architects in the organic tradition (Paolo Soleri; John Randall McDonald; Jim Hubbell; Art Dyson; etc.) and gives many others only fleeting attention. And; as an earlier reviewer pointed out; its exclusive focus on residential designs omits great masterpieces such as Lloyd Wrights Wayfarers Chapel; Thorncrown Chapel by E. Fay Jones and Soleris Cosanti complex. Also missing are Cuban; Indian and Hungarian architects in the organic tradition. Ideally; this should be the first of several volumes exploring the continuing relevance of Frank Lloyd Wright and organic architecture in the world of design.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
