PeplinskiI have a long history of buying lots of craft and instructional books; flipping through the pages once; then sticking them on a shelf while I try to figure out how to do my own thing. Not so with this book! I cant remember another book Ive ever bought that was so darn inviting that I sat down and made lots of the projects the same day!The instructions are VERY easy to follow; and they dont assume that everyone knows how to sew or has a sewing machine (though I do; which makes them even easier). She even explains alternate methods for cutting if you dont have access to a decent pair of scissors. The book is truly accessible to anyone with an old shirt! Plus shes got some really great ideas here; and so far everything Ive made (about 10 of the projects over the course of 2 days) has turned out perfectly adorable. I do not exactly have a halter-top body; but somehow her designs have all looked fabulous; I dont know if shes some kind of genius or alchemist or what!Since we seem to be stating our ages here; Im 34 and will proudly wear many of these designs myself!! Though some of the sexiest tops and bikini bottoms will probably not be worn outside the house!Just one note; you may want to take the sizing with a grain of salt when the design calls for a "Fitted T-shirt (Size Small)." Hate to tell the authors; but some of us find a Size Large to be plenty fitted! Just use your own common sense when it comes to that and youll be fine. In fact; one of the things I love about this book is that I used to be a XXL and after losing weight I found many of my old favorites were way too boxy to even wear for sleeping. This book has given my old wardrobe new life! Not only do I not have to toss my soft old shirts; but they look cuter and sexier than ever before. I LOVE THIS BOOK!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not really what I expectedBy Lesa V.As a re-crafting seamstress; Ive ripped up more than a couple of T-shirts to make into something better than the original. Bought this book because it looked fun; and looked like it would have some new ideas for me to try out.It is definitely geared to the more punk genre of clothing; well over half of the "patterns" being held together with safety pins; which can look edgy and fresh in some cases; sadly looks more tragic in a lot of these. The majority of all of the patterns have raw; unfinished seams (as noted in several other reviews) which is ok for some things. Flipped through this with my 2 nieces; aged 15 and 17; they both saw a few cute things but not many that theyd be willing to wear; or "chop up a t-shirt for" (their words; not mine).Glad I bought it used; there is little in here that strikes my fancy; most of which was available in the preview. Maybe if theyd had a bit more difference between the "sew" and "no-sew" options; or at least had some with finished seams/hems.HOWEVER; all the above aside; the writers have a pretty unique and interesting way of writing; and the bits of information on every other page about t-shirts in general; was nice.Overall I gave this 3 stars because if youre looking for a way to use up a bunch of old shirts for a teenager; or a "punk" style person; it would be ok; at the very least to get ideas from for real projects. Other than that; there isnt much I can say for it.~edited because apparently I didnt click on stars.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Generation T 108 ....great idea/giftsBy z1RoniWhat a clever book. Wish Id wrote it. I am a seamstress and so many of these ideas can certainly be applied to my creations in knits. Well illustrated. I am a visual person; and love the line drawings in the book. Many darling skirts;flirty full skirts; skinny skirts; and skirts that can be worn as tops using a couple to three T-shirts. But hey; we all have T-Shirts and we dont wear all of them. Very Clever. I certainly am not disappointed in this great idea book. Many of the designs in the book can be easily adapted to a larger size;and modified by wearing a tank top underneath;so as to avoid the obscene look. The book depicts skinny gals; so of course you have to have some creativity to fluctuate the sizing. I am teaching a gal to sew; and this book will certainly spike up the degree of her creativity; she fits the mold and can wear all the styles. It will be so much fun to see what she can do after she learns the basics. That was my main reason for buying the book; to spike her creativity and keep her desire to learn to sew in high gear.I feel the book is well worth the money spent on it.
