It skimmed over a lot that could have made a good novel; such as LDVs involvement with BorgiaBy Don CoyerWhile it did have some interesting insights (guesses) about events; the book came across more as a timeline. It would take you to a certain time and place and walk Leonardo through known events. And these chapters got shorter and shorter as the book progressed. It was as though he got tired of writing it. It skimmed over a lot that could have made a good novel; such as LDVs involvement with Borgia. If its intended as a novel; I would rather see a full blown novel and some characters with personalities. Still; any Leonardo book is worth reading; and Pepper did have some plausible explanations for some events; particularly the Mona Lisa. I didnt like the way he seemed to claim that Leonardo was so involved in Catholicism; as we know that this is probably not true.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good Story and Hopefully an Accurate HistoryBy StanleyIve always wanted to learn more about the brilliance of Leonardo. This book filled in the many blanks in my understanding of this magnificent man. He truly was brilliant and centuries beyond his time. I was greatly distracted and disappointed with the focus on sex and immorality by the author. I know for a fact that there is very little evidence that Leonardo was gay. (Although it is a fact that he was accused of sodomy.) Why do modern day authors find it necessary to focus on sex and thereby ruin what could be a beautiful story about the life of a brilliant man of history. Now I have a much deeper understanding of the trials and tribulations he experienced; all because of his brilliance.
