Whether you like Clancy Brothers; or Dubliners; Pogues or Dropkick Murphys; this is the ultimate collection for you. Traditional ones in here of course; and no matter what instrument you play; youll have great craic (translation: fun) !! Written mostly in easy keys to play in; you can start playing immediately. I bought it for "Fields of Athenry;" which is written if F; because thats a song difficult to find anywhere else. Once you learn it in F; of course; you can easily play it in C from memory. MacNamaras Band (in G) is so easy that you really only need to play it once or twice to get the tune; and then its the all important lyrics you really need to learn - "..and Hennesey Tennessee tootles the flute; and the music is something grand."Glue from the binding not so great; and pages coming out almost immediately. Many of the old standards like "Finnegans Wake" and "All For Me Grog" are here; as well as some of the haunting ballads like "The Parting Glass". The arrangements are good for low intermediate and up; and this will make any party more fun; its also good to play and sing alone when the mood takes you.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Music lessons would helpBy CustomerOkay so I just started teaching myself how to play about 2 months ago. Ive always loved to play songs I know the lyrics to because playing while singing is extreamly difficult at least for me. So this book is definetly for someone who knows how to read music and taking a couple lessons first would help. The overall content is great there are so many songs in this book and once you know how to read notes your set.
