Not Overly ImpressedBy sketching studentThis book is supposed to be about quick sketching; but most of the illustrations given by the author - while techinically very good - have WAY too much going on to be what I would consider a "quick" sketch. Most of them are very dark and overly shaded; with far too many lines and details; making the majority of his sketches appear "muddy" and confusing; at least to my eye. There were several where I couldnt even tell what the subject was without reading his caption underneath.A much better book in my opinion is "The Art of Field Sketching" by Clare Walker Leslie or "Sketching School" by Judy Martin. Both are designed for beginners; but are in depth enough to help anyone in their sketching. Theyre more expensive though - so I guess you get what you pay for.
