Komprehensive; Kolossal Book on Ray DaviesBy David TerralavoroIve read several of Rogans books (Them; Svegalis and Starmakers; and of Kourse "The Kinks" - that was 1984 when it was new and the 2nd Kinks book.) When I received "A Complicated Life" I didnt realize it was nearly 700 pages! I read it as kwuickly as I could - 3 weeks!. I was just amazed; all through the time I am thinking to myself "This is not a Kinks book. I know my Kinks/Ray Davies story having been a fan and Kontributing to Fanzines and books - so this book was a treat Mr Rogan interviewed many associates - good; bad and sometimes it was Ugly! I wasn;t too familiar with the details the past 10 years; again this book was real worthwhile ; enjoyable reading. I noticed one mistake - "Thanksgiving Day is credited on the US version of "Other Peoples Lives" Rogan seems to list the British releases. I went out and purchased "Waterloo Sunset and Other Stories " book 1997 after reading this book .... but thats another review....................1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Mr.PleasantBy gary markwoodI loved the book. Every page. I never knew in such detail the way Ray must roll. Pretty scary . But still huge fan of his. Harrowing tale of rock and roll. The politics and power shifts in a major big time band.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Review of a complicated life.By CustomerThis book starts off slow covering a lot of tedious background information. But eventually shines a light on some albeit unflattering facts and stories that I never heard before! Some of the information conflicts with some of the other biographical books Ive read about Mr. Davies! I found that very interesting!
