WolfeFascinating details about the design and construction of a number of iconic structures. While I disagree with a few of the authors choices; they do a fine job of exploring both the engineering and the design factors that the architect was challenging. They also provide fascinating insights into the human considerations that influenced the building design. My only real complaint (more of a minor quibble than a complaint); is that the author seems to favor the earliest examples of a design changing idea over slightly newer structures that often represent a more developed and comprehensive application of the concept. For example; while the Ford Plant in Highland Park certainly marks a turning point in how designers thought about the layout of manufacturing facilities; is it really more significant than the NEXT step in that evolution; the massive River Rouge facility?0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
