PDF Pictorial Composition: An Introduction (Dover Art Instruction) by Henry Rankin Poore in Arts-Photography

Description

A paintings technique; color; and perspective may all be excellent; yet the painting will fail unless its composition succeeds. Composition is the harmonious arranging of the component parts of a work of art into a unified whole. Henry Poore examines the works of old masters and moderns in this book and uses these examples to explain the principles of compositions in art.All the paintings that the author analyzes are illustrated in the text mdash; 166 illustrations; including 9 in full color. Thirty-two diagrams by the author accompany his textural discussion of such topics as the importance of balance; entrance and exit; circular observation; angular composition; composition with one or more units; and light and shade. Balance is the most important of these topics; and it is considered in the greatest detail mdash; balance of the steelyard; vertical and horizontal balance; and so on. A complete index enables the reader to locate his own specific areas of interest. To see how a painting by Ceacute;zanne; Goya; or Hopper; for example; follows definite principles of composition allows the practicing artist or art student to learn composition from the finest instructors mdash; the artists themselves. This book is also very useful to the art devotee; who will find his appreciation of the subject greatly enhanced.

I bought this thinking they really couldnt mess up Christmas music. Wow; was I ever so wrong! This is not only cheap sounding play along music but they had to go and add a heavy drum beat in half of them. Really Hal Leonard?!?! In Christmas music? GARBAGE as far as Im concerned. Maybe youll like this stuff. When I have time Ill video a few segments so you can decide. Thats the other infuriating thing; they never have demos of the violin play-along books. Maybe that is because it is all bad and they know we wouldnt buy it once we hear them! Im not new to this whole play along thing either; I play trumpet myself and have bought LOTS of books; and they all have professionally done backing tracks. And in every case I could listen to a lot of sections before purchasing. I dont know why they cant do the same thing with violin. I most certainly would never have bought this if I heard it first.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. One StarBy moneymfdI dont like the Hal Leonard download system. Great musical arrangements; easy to understand and play. Lots of fun!
