Pictures and Visuality in Early Modern China (Picturing History)

PDF Pictures and Visuality in Early Modern China (Picturing History) by Craig Clunas in Arts-Photography

Description

This book examines the rich corpus of mosaics created in Crete during the Roman and Late Antique eras. It provides essential information on the style; iconography and chronology of the material; as well as discussion of the craftspeople who created them and the technologies they used. The contextualized mosaic evidence also reveals a new understanding of Roman and Late Antique Crete. It helps shed light on the processes by which Crete became part of the Roman Empire; its subsequent Christianization and the pivotal role the island played in the Mediterranean network of societies during these periods. This book provides an original approach to the study of mosaics and an innovative method of presenting a diachronic view of provincial Cretan society.

Ive heard many organists do these; but I was clueless as to how they did it. I dont play by ear; so I cant just make them up. When I found this book; I was thrilled. It offers 1-2 page "snazzy" intros to many popular traditional hymns. Id say most are written at an intermediate level of difficulty. And; most hymns must come in a standard key; because I checked each intro with the hymn in my churchs hymnal; and 95% are in the correct key. Ive had the book a month now and have already used 2 of the intros in services. I love this book and would recommend it whole-heartedly.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great for all skill levelsBy Mason StrouseThe arrangements are great for just about any level of skill. Some can be a little challenging; but most I was able to sight read quickly. Great for that organist who is by no means professional; but wants to sound great!
