Any artist not familiar with the new art-world paradigm is at a tremendous disadvantage. Should be required reading for all MFA graduates. Lane Relyeas academic writing style tends to be cumbersome and tedious - I prefer lucid writing with a diverse tempo and verbs that do the heavy lifting however his research and insightful commentary expound on the form of todays art world. No regrets for buying this book.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good Read.By John OHearnVery interesting insight into some very important art happening in the last couple decades. What I like most about this book is that it discusses a group of artists and alternative spaces that arent typically studied in art school. What I like least is when the author goes on very wordy tangents; which seem unnecessary. He seems to alternate between this and a more humble; straightforward approach; which I prefer. Id say its a great option for an MFA class; or any advanced student of fine art that wants to learn about the lasting affects of 90s art; which has yet to make it into the history books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A shift in perspectiveBy Cleo ArevaloA refreshing perspective shift that points out how to navigate successfully in this ever changing economy. It is definitely a thinking tool.
