Boal and those who believe in the power of action produced wrenching exercises based on trust and a belief in the right of activism. He was the kind of visionary whose belief in what is right flew out and beyond his native land and into rehearsal halls; classrooms and public places encircling the world. If more could open their doors; and hearts; to Boals theories of and engagement with theater; oh my! What a bright shining world it would be.2 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Dont got TOO excitedBy J. SelfNot the book I had hoped it woud be. Though I do not have my copy infront of me from what I can remember I wasnt too impressed. After delving a little deeper into the book it became clear that I wasnt going to find what I was looking for (clear examples of what Boal does) in my research. This seemed to be one of those books where someone wanted to be published so they "edited" a bunch of articles written by others so everybody gets a book under their belt and everyone wine. Not so fast future book buyer. You dont win. Stick to the books pened by Boal himself. He is actually a wonderfull author; very clear; and you will probibly find answers to all your questions. Start with Boal first. This isnt a bad book! This is just not a great place to start if you are just discovering Boal.
