Davis has insight from all the family members and many of Darnells contemporaries to paint a full portrait of a really tragic star who died much too soon. Fortunately the book while it sheds light on her youthful rise to fame and early decent to heartbreak and alcoholism; it still helps you appreciate the beauty of Darnells work and spirit as much as her looks.
