It went well; but I wanted to expand my knowledge without having to run to the store every time I had a question or issue. I borrowed this book from the local library and loved it; soon I knew it would have to be mine! It has not left my side since. Any time I knit socks; I refer to this book. I am working on the picot edge socks now and they are cute as can be. The patterns are offered in a variety of sizes; and the patterns give several yarn options. Plus; the instructions show how to alter the patterns to use a different yarn. The tips and instructions are clear and helpful with plenty of photos to illustrate the technique. The book is under $20 and its a great investment!!!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The best how to book for knitting socksBy MMWThe best how to book for knitting socks. I had never knitted socks before although I have observed others knitting them and was fascinated. I picked this book up to look at and found I understood all her instructions. I knew how to knit and purl and follow a pattern. With her instructions I have been happily knitting socks; each pair better then the previous pair. If you have ever wanted to try knitting socks; this is the best instruction book I have come across for creating socks. I keep it with me as a reference too whenever I am knitting socks. Socks are a nice small project that develops quickly. I highly recommend this book!7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Theres more than one way to knit a sock...By PhyllisJLIm disappointed. This book just arrived today. Ive just finished a class on knitting socks. Im sure Ill learn from this book; however it has one way to knit socks. One style of heel and toe; which is nothing like what I learned in class. Plus; its 10 years old; so the newer techniques of "magic loop" and knitting two socks on one long circular are not in the book. I dont know if I have enough experience to convert what Ive just learned to the directions in the book.
