MilbradtYou can take a lot of University art classes and never be exposed to the ideas in this book. You can graduate with a Master of Fine Arts degree without understanding how to cultivate inspiration or ideas. This book contains the inner teachings that are often missed in academia that every successful artist (or entrepreneur) knows. In a clear and understated style Bill Kluba describes how to find inspiration and ideas. He tell us how to seed and cultivate the imagination; how to transform ideas into art. In another authors hands this subject could drift off into ethereal speculations; but Bill keeps his advice to practical; day to day suggestions and guides the reader through the process of creating art from inception to masterpiece. If you are interested in developing your artistic creativity I recommend that you read this book; let it gently influence your approach to art; and see how far you can really go.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Overpriced for its contentBy cigdem g.This book contains the advice of a college teacher of art on how to develop as an artist. While his sincerity; enthusiasm iand good intentions are evident and definitely worthy of praise; his suggestions are few and limited to followimg intuitiion; not being intimidated by fear; observing; keepimg a journal. collecting material; planning. studying and being patient as well as open to critique and change. He often mentions events from his own life and gives brief descriptions about the life and work of other artists to illustrate his thoughts. As such. the book is like a collection of pleasant anecdotes and general advice from a teacher to novice artists; and it even reads like the records of casual speeches delivered in the classroom. I did not find it intellectually or artistically stimulating but students just about to embark on an art course in high school or college might derive some benefit. I was disappointed because I found the content too generic and vague; and lacking in specific methods or exercises designed to facilitate finding inspiration and ideas; as implied by the books quite ambitious title. But I have a MFA degree and may have expected too much. I think this book was intended for newcomers to art. In its current state I think its price is too high for its content. It could be much more helpful to a wider audience if the writer could expand the text with methods and exercises relevant to artistic inspiration.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Art Comes From Every ExperienceBy MelarancioIf you are an artist or interested in art; you will enjoy this book. You can read a chapter at a time; leave it for a while come back. Im really enjoying this book. Too bad I cant find an online book club or art site that has serious book discussions.
