JohnsonAncient Greek Art; generally speaking; depicts the history of the human race from the standpoint of the way of Cain. The Greeks believed that the serpent enlightened; rather than deluded; the first couple in paradise. The east pediment of the Parthenon boasts of the triumph of the way of Cain after the Flood. Herakles is the Nimrod of Genesis (10:8-10). Athena; along with Isis; Maat; and many near-eastern goddesses; is a deification of the Naamah of Genesis (4:22); the last person mentioned in the line of Cain; and who came through the Flood as Hams wife; and instigated the rebellion of her grandson Nimrod/Herakles against the Yahweh-believing offspring of Noah; called in Greek Nereus (the Wet One) and Halios Geron (Salt-sea Old Man). The Greek word for gods is theoi meaning literally "placers." Most Greek "gods" are ancestors in the way of Cain who put the Greek religious system into place. For more on this; please see my books "The Parthenon Code: Mankinds History in Marble" and "Noah in Ancient Greek Art."Most Greek art makes no sense at all unless connected to Genesis people and events. Then it opens up to the spirit and the intellect. Academia; being largely atheistic; does not get this; indeed; cannot get this.I gave the book; which I own; three stars because Mr. Shapiro did teach me a few new things about the vases themselves; and presented me with two vases I had not seen anywhere else. And his book represents a lot of work.
