Public Private Partnerships in Construction

DOC Public Private Partnerships in Construction by Duncan Cartlidge in Arts-Photography

Description

Collaborative working and partnering between the public and private sectors has been fairly standard practice in some form or other for over 100 years; but it is only in recent years that it has become more prevalent. In the UK; it is little more than ten years since the most widely known Public Private Partnership (PPP); the Private Finance Initiative (PFI); was launched and yet it has already been described by some as the new economic paradigm.Public Private Partnerships in Construction is an authoritative and objective source of information on PPPs; including lessons to be learnt from the past decade; as well as coverage of their spread beyond the UK to governments in areas as diverse as Cambodia and California. With its detailed presentation of current issues; illustrated with case studies; this book provides a valuable practical resource for a range of students and professionals.

Review
8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Absurd priceBy sh1234Ive read a few of the essays in this book; and found them to be very good; so I thought Id get a copy to review; with the intention of possibly using it as a textbook.I can understand how the hard copy could get so expensive; if it had gone out of print; but why on earth is the infinitely reproduceable kindle edition $167?! If the price were reasonable (say; 1/10 of the current price) I might consider assigning it; or recommending that students purchase it. Then Blackwell would make plenty of money; making between 10-20$ for each copy of something that costs them nothing per copy; instead of failing to sell any copies at all (because; lets be real here; there are very few people out there who would pay this kind of money for a book that they can get from a library). I cant imaging what the reasoning is behind this.
