High performing buildings from around the world serve as exemplars to show energy utilization data and strategies of how the design teams achieved success. Yudelson and Meyer crafted clear selection criteria for inclusion in this book: more than 50;000 ft2 (4645 m2 ); LEED Platinum or equivalent benchmark; and owners must provide actual utility data for at least one preceding year. Owners; architects; engineers; facility planners; students; and the community can find a variety of building types to inspire future projects. Great Service to the Design CommunityBy Rajesh HelwegYudelson and Meyer have done a great service to the design profession by profiling how highly rated green buildings around the world actually perform. Too often; designers and builders finish projects with extravagant promises about energy and water savings that are never realized in practice. If we are in fact to transform the built environment in the name of sustainability; we need more studies like this one to confirm that we are in fact designing and operating better buildings.
