Therefore I went into this Strictly-inspired novella with a degree of reservation. Now I can officially say that this book is great for fans of Strictly AND all us others who are a bit bemused by the whole thing.Fast paced and enjoyable; with sexy but modern and believable characters; as well as a dollop of wry humour and a firm grasp of the Zeitgeist. Could have definitely read more; so very pleased to learn this is the first of a series. Looking forward to "The Waltz"; due out next year.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Slip on those dancing shoes - inspired!By Linn B. HaltonBehind the glitz and the glam isnt just the hard work; but its all about the characters and The Rumba doesnt disappoint! What a cast and who wouldnt dissolve from the intensity of Harris eyes? As you can guess; he was my favourite! You get a warm feeling reading this one and a sense of the dancing action. An inspired idea for a complete series and Georgia Hill writes it with style.1 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Just not feeling it.By D - Guilty Pleasures BRIrsquo;m going to admit that the cover; the title; and the premise of this book sold me. I love dancing of all sorts and the rumba happens to be a favorite. So; I had really high hopes for this book but for me it kind of fell flat. The characters werenrsquo;t all that engaging; the plot didnrsquo;t hold my interest; and the romance was weak. I didnrsquo;t feel the heat between the two characters and even after they finally got together there wasnrsquo;t very much steam.Taking place during a reality dancing television program there was the usual drama that takes place in reality television but nothing overly entertaining. The ldquo;starsrdquo; were somewhat clicheacute; and it was easy to tell who the judges were modeled after. The heroine Julia Cooper and the hero Harri Morgan had the potential to be a great couple. They were likeable enough but their interactions were just strange. They both wanted the other but Julia didnrsquo;t feel she was worthy and Harri had a contract issue preventing him from making a move so they spent time together but I never got the feeling they really shared much about their lives.I was really looking forward to this series; but The Rumba just left me feeling disappointed and Irsquo;m not sure Irsquo;ll read the second one.Review copy provided for an honest review.
