Beautiful wake-up volume to the endangered beauty of our planetBy SMCThe array of excellent poetry and elegant; arresting photography make this book a wonder. Greg Delanty; Seamus Heaney; Maxine Kumin; Grace Paley; Major Jackson; Galway Kinnell; Frost and many others are in this stunning collection; along with photographers in the Ansel Adams tradition. An important look at the environment through the eyes of artists; with commentary by Bill McKibben of 350.org.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Give it as a gift...By D. KyleBeautiful; thoughtful; thought-provoking.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A work of elegant beauty and desperation for desperate ecological timesBy poetrylovescompanyOutstanding in every respect--especially when you consider how often books like this tend to go off the rails; for so many reasons (too didactic/preachy; sketchy interrelationship between words and images; mediocre layout and design; etc. etc.). This is a superb collection of writings--mostly poetry--with a genuinely symbiotic relationship to the accompanying photographs; all concerning the supremely urgent matter of whether its too late to save Earth from ourselves. And although Greg Delantys name is on the cover; this book includes the work of probably 50 other poets as well--many names that will be familiar to readers of poetry; and many new voices to enjoy; if "enjoy" is the word for such a dire subject. If you love poetry; fine photography; and our planet; this is a terrific book.
