JefferysIf you are familiar with the recording industry; especially in New York at that time; you will really appreciate the information and stories about the artists; their songs; and the business in general. Lots of technical background for those who want the details; as well as personal stories and anecdotes. The only issue with the Kindle edition; which is common; is that it was obviously scanned; but not proofread. There are multiple errors in the text; and you sometimes have to guess what the gibberish means. Other than that; it brought back a lot of memories for me.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Good; but glitzyBy Old AudioBeing that my background was the recording business for some years; I read this with especial interest. The book is written in the glitzy Hollywood style; where everything is just a little bit brighter; just a little bit better. In terms of history; its very good; but giving the impression that everything happened in New York.Los Angeles; Memphis; Muscle Shoals; Nashville; Chicago were also centers of recording for many years. "From Downbeat to Vinyl" is another look at a giant of the recording business.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Stories about music historyBy Paulo Roberto AredesI just love this book because I discovered important details concerning NY recording enviroment mainly when the songs were recorded at large rooms in one shot using the finest orchestras and musicians.Of course if you are a music producer; a musician or music recording technician; you will understand better the stories and tech details.Anyway; I think its a great book even for non musicians; but you might love music to appreciate it.
