She writes of Chekhovrsquo;s childhood; his relationships; his travels; his early success; and his self-imposed ldquo;exilerdquo;mdash;always with an eye to connecting them to themes and characters in his work. You asked!By RickI thought it was awful! Charles Foster should be ashamed for the conclusion of his piece on David Manners. I knew him. Spoiled the entire book for me.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Poorly-written and full of inexcusable mistakesBy Moon MistThere is no excuse for the incredible laziness of the author regarding historical fact about the subjects in this poorly-written book. Humphrey Bogart gave a short remembrance of Jack Carson upon Carsons death? Bogart died almost six years to the day BEFORE Carson; who died in 1963; not 1965; as the author alleges. There are so many mistakes; such lack of research; in this book that lets hope the author made very little money from it. The author is 90; so I have refrained from contacting him personally. Please; Mr. Foster; retire once and for all.
