Probably the best part of this book is the closeup color photos of each sock. Each are clearly photographed to show the detail of the pattern. The photos are on the same pages with the instructions; and the instructions are concise and clear. There is a good variety of cables; lace; color work. Beautiful sock photos to look at; even to dream of making them all.14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. really nice sock bookBy M. PollerI wear knit socks and give them as presents too. My problem is that Im a fairly loose knitter and 56 sts is the number I need usually. But with this book I am hopeful that I can modify the patterns which call for more sts so that they will also work for me. Most of the patterns have a gauge of 8 sts per inch and my gauge is 7 which means I can probably make most of them. There is only one pair I dont care for. My favorite is a cable pattern. In addition to the sock patterns which are all charted and also written out; there is a lot of information on how to modify and change them to fit. The yarns used are fingering weight sock yarns and the internet information is also given if you want to get the exact yarns as they are from small yarn suppliers.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful - Wonderful - WonderfulBy P. F.This is by far the best sock book I have purchased. The patterns range from the simple to the complicated (not hard; just a little more time consuming) What I really love is that you have the option of line by line instructions or working from a chart. This is the first book where I am starting at the front and doing all the patterns. The only slight downside (as with most knitting books)is the yarn used is not the brands you can find at the local craft stores; but with socks substituting is easy. I highly recommend this book.
