Old Images A Deal BreakerBy JoshWhile the content on composition is solid; useful and well organized; the book comes up short with up-to-date photo illustrations. There are accompanying photo illustrations from the film eramdash;ouch! Also; the majority of the remaining illustrated images are from the early days of digital technology using 10D; 20D; and 20D Canon cameras. It looks like the author did not continue to practice his craft of photography but rested on his past collection of images.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. ... challenges the professional toward mastering the conditions to create amazing images. I love what Tom says in his ...By Marcia CaldwellToms composition techniques not only guides and teaches the novice but challenges the professional toward mastering the conditions to create amazing images. I love what Tom says in his Final Thoughts. "To master photography is to master the conditions. Only when youve master the conditions will you know the full extent of your creative ability." To write a book that can speak to both the beginner and experienced photographer is a feat in itself but to also show; through his images; to help you create stronger images is amazing. He takes you from understanding how your equipment(cameras and lenses) render the image to helping you to realize your own creative style through great composition. Tom; also; shows you how not to shoot and image which sometimes can be just as helpful as giving you a proper example. When you a though reading this book do not throw it on the shelf; you will be back refering to all the great information that Tom has to offer all photographers.
