Ruthless: A Memoir

ebooks Ruthless: A Memoir by Jerry Heller in Arts-Photography

Description

Ruthless tells the explosive story of Jerry Hellers alliance with Eric Wright; aka Eazy-E; one of the legends of rap music and a founding member of N.W.A.; "the worlds most dangerous band." As a longtime music industry superagent; Heller had the skill and insight necessary to guide N.W.A.s cometlike rise to the top of the charts. Along the way there were raucous nationwide tours; out-of-control MTV pool parties; and X-rated business meetings. Heller held on through the brutal shocks and reversals of the Ruthless Records era; which saw the label being targeted by the FBI; and its principal artists locked in bitter conflict; until a final turnaround placed Ruthless at the top of the heap once more. Heller turns the music industry inside out; exposing its strange logic and larger-than-life personalities. Ruthless provides keen insight into the popular music scene; with an unforgettable portrait of its rollicking excesses; life-churning drama; and multimillion-dollar highs.

Read the book; attend the GlobeBy free_laborSo I used this book to write an MA essay on audience interaction and Elizabethan/Shakespearean plays; the idea is that because Shakespeare wrote plays that had to be performed during the daytime; audience interaction was expected. A playwright had to include the audience and make them feel like they were a part of the show; and Shakespeare would have done this also. If you accept that; then suddenly many questions about how Shakespeare should be performed get answered: why Cressida; for example; betrays Troilus right after professing her love. Shes playing the part of the clown; criticizing the "heroic" Trojans; as she brings the audience into the plot. We; as the audience; conspire with her; interested to see what will happen as the plot of the play resolves. Her motivation isnt realistic; in the modern sense that we expect it; her motivation is structural; and we go along because she invites us to go along. If you want to see Shakespeare performed this way (including the audience); head over to the Globe theatre (if youre near London) or the Blackfriars Theater if youre near Virginia. Both of those theaters perform Shakespeare in even (universal) lighting and encourage the actors to directly address the audience. Then you can decided for yourself if what the author is discussing works or not.
