MinerThis book is very well written with a wonderful collection of pictures from the 1940s and 1950s. I grew up in North Tonawanda during that era so it was all very interesting to me.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. tonawanda and north Tonawanda (Images of America Series)By dianekAs a former resident of Tonawanda; it was great to reminiscethe area where I grew up. It was nice to see what the Tonawandas looked like in their peak and to learn a little more about the history of the area. It was also good to see pictures of stores; etc. that are no longer there but have fond memories for me. I liked it so much that I got another copy for my sister in Missouri who really enjoyed it. My hope is that another edition of pictures and history will come forth because this is only a sampling of what the Tonawandas were all about. I would recommend it to anybody who grew up in Tonawanda or North Tonawanda or even the surrounding areas. Great Job!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Jog your memoryBy petercI grew up in the City of Tonawanda and didnt realize how rich in history Tonawanda really is. I kept finding my self staring at the old pictures and trying to remember how those areas looked when I was growning up. The Tonawandas were a wonderful; safe and fun place to grow up. If you want to jog your memory a bit and walk back in time...buy this book. To the folks at the Tonawanda Historical Society...bravo! especially to Pat Barnard; he was one of my favorite teachers.
