Being a history nerd myself and holding the Ph.D. in theatre; Id love to seen this book written in more of a story style rather than purely academically. This is a personal issue with me; but I believe history could be much more interesting to the average reader if history books were written more in a story style. Other than that; this book serves the academy of theatre arts since it is one of only a few full studies of the art of acting in its historical and sociological environment. Of course; I must mention that Jean Benedetti stands as one of the truly great theatre teachers in America; if not in the world. Im truly happy to see this book which I knew he had been working on. Congratulations.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good beginning on Acting theoryBy Lee A. JacobusI thought I might get more out of this book than I did. STill; it is comprehensive and Benedetti guides the reader through the main texts from the Greeks to the present. Its clearly one of the only books of its kind; so its important to have if you want to think clearly about acting and theater.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. very nice bookBy Etudiant en SEOi like the book very much! good job by the author in researching the different schools of acting...All the best..
