Description

From a peak era in American domestic architecture comes this survey of homes from across the country. Its wealth of styles features both new American designs and traditional European-inspired buildings of wood; stucco; concrete; brick; and stone. The 130 captioned black-and-white illustrations and 55 floor plans offer external and internal views for a full perspective on the houses architectural ingenuity and originality. One of the most striking features of these homes is their extreme variety in terms of efficient design. The plans combine a limited number of units into a workable whole; without sacrifice of convenience or economy. Blending practicality and charm; these imaginative designs will inspire professional architects; amateur builders; and anyone interested in the ways American architects adapted Old World designs and added elements of native style to produce a new and vibrant home building idiom.

Sullivan; a DJ on the Lower East Side met a young Stefani Germanotta who was working hard and fighting to make her dream come true. This is the story of not just Gaga; but Brendan and life in New York as well. With incredible writing that transports you right to Rivington street; you see what is was like in the early days from someone who was there. You see not only the professional but personal struggles of both Brendan and Gaga as they navigate relationships. You feel as though you are sitting in St. Jeromersquo;s or Pianos as Stefani Germanotta begins her rise to fame; while at the same time; she is a young woman desperately seeking the love of a ldquo;Guyrdquo; (Luc Carl) who is possessive; jealous; and doesnrsquo;t love her anywhere near as much as she loves him.Through it all; this book is about the friendship of two people; one who would become an international icon and the other; who wants nothing more that to see his friend succeed. If yoursquo;re a casual Gaga fan; yoursquo;ll learn a lot about Stefani Germanotta; who you probably donrsquo;t know much about. If yoursquo;re a deeply devoted ldquo;monsterrdquo; like me who is a living encyclopedia of all things Gaga;this book will definitely add a richer context. I promise; even you will never view her music the same way again!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Gaga Kreation StoryBy R. NorthrupI have never read a book about a superstar; but I suspect the genre is abysmal and shallow; perhaps printed in a big font with many photos as filler; in haste. Brendan and I went to college in Ohio; were in a scooter gang; roommates; and it seems he doesnt want to discuss that period so Ill respectfully stop at saying he was and remains a serious writer. A literary fiction author; Id like to read his Mercutio; and Ive followed his blog / articles for fashion websites / gentlemen. His writings improved over the years; and his work ethic has always eclipsed mine. "Guy" aka Luke was a drummer in a friends band Inouk; and his description checks the interactions Id had - by way of saying; potential book buyers; this is a high-fidelity account of Lady Gaga. Its trenchant; despite the heady pace and name-dropping and suspiciously consistent optimism; its Brendan Sullivan all the way - a supportive; very uplifting man; whose only fault in life is that he doesnt have the smallness of heart to be a dick at the right moments; to rub people in the mud when they need it; letting them walk over him; paint a falsehood on his wide-open and true canvas. He doesnt shoot first."Is it any wonder; I reject you first... fame!" - BowieHe knows its going to happen; like a clairvoyant; yet theres none of the jealousy of a tell-all; here. Guess hes her biggest fan; after her folks? This is a book that stands on its own.It just helps sell it that its the definitive creation story of a beloved pop artist. Buy it; monsters.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. GREAT BOOK!!By SUZY QActually; I just got the book today!! I took it out of the package; started reading; and couldnt put it down!! I havent finished it yet but read enough to give a review!! Great Book!! Very well written!! Entertaining and insightful. Puts the reader right there on the Lower East Side along with the characters in the book!! The book is not about Lady Gaga. She is a friend of the authors and one of the characters in the book. Im in my 60s and had heard of Lady Gaga but knew nothing of her music and life. Then I saw her mesmerizing 2015 Oscars Tribute to The Sound Of Music!! Out of curiosity; I decided to watched some of her song videos and interviews. I learned that she is an intelligent; funny; sweet; caring girl with a beautiful voice who really knows how to put on a show!! Honestly; I am now a Fan of Gaga!!
