Annas; der Groszlig;mutter Christi mit ihrer Tochter Maria und dem Enkelsohn; wurde als Ensemble im Hochmittelalter kreiert. Die Voraussetzung hierfuuml;r war ein Interesse an Jesu irdischer Abstammung sowie an der Geschichte und Abstammung seiner Mutter; des weiblichen Parts in der patriarchal strukturierten Vater-Sohn-Religion. Der Mutter der Mutter; die zuerst in Jerusalem und Byzanz verehrt wurde; kommt dabei im Laufe der Jahrhunderte eine immer bedeutendere Rolle zu. Sie wird biblischen wie paganen bdquo;Urmuuml;tternldquo; angeglichen und zum legendauml;ren Familienoberhaupt der Heiligen Sippe. Wauml;hrend dieser Legendenstrang vor allem im nordalpinen Raum aufgegriffen wurde und im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert; neben der Anna Selbdritt; unzauml;hlige bildliche Darstellungen fand; ist in Italien das dreifigurige Familienbild von Groszlig;mutter; Mutter und dem Kind vorherrschend; das ab dem Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts aber hauml;ufig zu einer Sacra Conversazione erweitert wurde. Die Verehrung der Heiligen Anna wurde in Italien jedoch zu keinem uuml;berregionalen Phauml;nomen wie im Norden; sondern blieb auf bestimmte Regionen beschrauml;nkt.

At this time where a "green building" industry seems to have gone mad in its thirst for foam and more efficient ways to blow air around inside hermetically sealed boxes; Sim Van Der Ryns words about the wisdom of nature; are like a beacon of light! A lifetimes wisdom from a master architectBy PeterAs an architect I spend every day immersed in the nitty-gritty details of design. This book is a breath of fresh air and gave me a chance to stretch my mind. Most architects memoirs or retrospectives dwell on the designers oeuvre; illustrated with endless photos and little in the way of articulated ideas. This book is different - it is deeply thoughtful; and illustrates its points very subtly with Van der Ryns simple but revealing watercolors from nature. The author recounts his personal journey as a designer who has been involved in almost every significant environmental development in the world of architecture. The later chapters that delve into the importance of bringing the natural world into our built environment and taking our understanding of design deeper into our own selves are particularly compelling.
