There are wonderful pics of people and places which are long gone ...By Jane MeinersI was one of the founders of the OB Historical Society and was born in OB many; many; many years ago. A pic of yours truly at one year of age at; of course; the beach graces the book. There are wonderful pics of people and places which are long gone - the wonderful old plunge which held a large slide at the deep end; down which one zoomed and attempted to catch a big rope hanging from the ceiling - something like trying to catch the brass ring on a merry-go-round - except the only prize was an internal one of "I DID IT!" The snap of the little old Bank of America - a charming example of Spanish architecture - which has now been covered up with a blobby facade of - I dont even know what - at the corner of Newport and Bacon. Ugly. The old Piggly Wiggly grocery store. The little old Faber grocery; which actually gave people credit. I was always so impressed that my friend Rita could actually charge a 5-cent packet of KoolAid! All in all; a great book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. GiftBy R.
