Description

Relaunching Titanic critically considers the invocation of Titanic heritage in Belfast in contributing to a new lsquo;post-conflictrsquo; understanding of the city. The authors address how the memory of Titanic is being and should be represented in the place of its origin; from where it was launched into the collective consciousness and unconscious of western civilization. Relaunching Titanic examines the issues in the context of international debates on the tension between place marketing of cities and other alternative portrayals of memory and meaning in places. Key questions include the extent to which the goals of economic development are congruous with the lsquo;contemplative cityrsquo; and especially the need for mature and creative reflection in the lsquo;post-conflictrsquo; city; whether development interests have taken precedence over the need for a deeper appreciation of a more nuanced?Titanic?legacy in?the city of Belfast; and what Belfast shares with other places in considering the sacred and profane in memory construction. While Relaunching Titanic focuses on the conflicted history of Belfast and the Titanic; it will have lessons for planners and scholars of city branding; tourism; and urban re-imaging.

Its such a treat seeing all Enfus artwork large and crisp. His style is fun and always keeps your eye moving; full of kawaii and modern. Theres a few pages in which Enfu pays tribute to Ghibli; and as a Ghibli fan; I really appreciated it.I think the only down side is this: while the book was produced in high quality (great colors; hard cover; etc); I had some issues with some pages that were stuck together on the edge. While attempting to separate the pages; part of the pages were scraped off :( Its a brand new book; so not sure if I was just unlucky; or if its a consistent manufacture flaw...overall doesnt distract me from the content; but it sucks to have a brand new artbook in such unavoidable condition.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Gift for Any Artist or Art Lover.By Ann MarieGot this as a gift for my girlfriend. She loves it. $20.00 is very inexpensive for the number of illustrations included and for hardcover; its a steal!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The perfect Christmas/Chanukah/Ramadan/Diwali/Festivus gift for 2014!By Joyce in SFThis book is both beautiful and cute; how is that possible? I enjoyed the artwork; of course; but I also enjoyed the bits of text and the rough sketches which gave me insight into the artists intentions and motivations. A beautiful book; and the perfect gift for artistic/creative friends. Wonderful!
