The photographs are breathtaking; and demonstrate not only the components of the weather systems discussed; but the extent of the devastation they can cause. The vocabulary is something every junior high school or middle school student should be familiar with (if not; there are a couple of new words to be learned here - a bonus); so this should be good for a range of student levels; including advanced lower grade classes. The only reason I didnt give it a 5-star rating is because having been an editor myself; I noticed a couple of grammatical errors that only an editor would pick up. It contains explanations of the various types of extreme weather along with facts on some of the bigger storms in history and also some tips on how to stay safe during hurricanes and tornado. I found the book interesting and would recommend it for all ages. Great bookBy CustomerMy granddaughter has required reading for her 5th grade class room. She loves to learn about things from nature like planets; the ocean; animals; ect. We got this book and she read it and she was loving it. She does not normally like to read but once we started this book she didnt want to stop till we got it done. This book has a lot of great information in it and I was a great book for my granddaughter. I love this book and hope to find more books like this to keep her motivated to read. I like anything that can make an unmotivated reader want to read and this did just that. I received this book for a reduced price for my honest opinion.
