BeamanNeil Bartlett is an important and exciting theatre artist and these solo pieces take us to his roots in performance art. A guerilla performer during the early AIDS crisis in England; Bartletts performance art pieces reveal his passionate commitment to creating visibility for gay and lesbian people as well as people living with HIV and AIDS in a country that has shown great intolerance to these communities. His performance art work led to the creation of his performing collective; Gloria; which launched Bartlett into a national and international voice through his work as performer; auteur director; translator; adaptor and playwright; and novelist. He is a true renaissance man. A very interesting read for theatre artists.
