Video storytelling for the web is still such uncharted terrain for many orgs and as an early-career video journalist; I am so glad I now have a book that consolidates all the important aspects of video storytelling. Its the perfect balance of being a practical guide book (covering technical basics; chapter exercises and even appearance/location release samples!) as well as getting into some of the nitty grittys of actual storytelling (tips on warming up to subjects; how to ask better questions; finding a focus in your story). There are also some great case studies and QAs with documentary and news producers that offer great perspective.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A must-read for beginnersBy Bianca ConsunjiThis easy-to-digest volume packs the essentials of narrative video. Duy Linh Tu definitely knows what hes talking about; the book offers technical tips (video codecs; what equipment to use; interview and framing techniques); but more importantly; the importance of storytelling and how to develop a better story. It also includes interviews from journalists from VICE; NPR; etc; and gives a helpful glimpse of what its like to do video journalism on the field. Highly recommended -- this is a very good textbook for anyone who wants to get into multimedia journalism.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The real deal on the industry; hows it changing and how to prepare for itBy CustomerAll too often; industry experts write about their fields and they end up feeding you with facts rather than teaching you how to think. Finally; someone has produced a reference that details not only how things have always been done; but how the industry is changing and how to keep up in a world that has changed dramatically in the past 10 years. Plus; he breaks down the technical process and equipment details because thats a huge component to this field. Fascinating and humorous; which says a lot; given that its a text book. Highly recommended.
