The Clouds

PDF The Clouds by Aristophanes in Arts-Photography

Description

The satire in this; one of the best known of all Aristophanes comedies; is directed against the new schools of philosophy; or perhaps we should rather say dialectic; which had lately been introduced; mostly from abroad; at Athens. The doctrines held up to ridicule are those of the Sophistsmdash;such men as Thrasymachus from Chalcedon in Bithynia; Gorgias from Leontini in Sicily; Protagoras from Abdera in Thrace; and other foreign scholars and rhetoricians who had flocked to Athens as the intellectual centre of the Hellenic world.mdash; From the introduction to lsquo; The Cloudsrsquo; by Aristophanes.

A Must-Read for Anyone Interested in Childrens Outdoor EnvironmentsBy mlegoriaDesigning Outdoor Environments for Children is a must read for anyone interested in creating stimulating outdoor environments for children. This book provides a thorough explanation of how childrens outdoor environments should be designed to meet the many different needs of todayrsquo;s nature-deprived children. Also; the case studies on childrenrsquo;s gardens in this book provide concrete examples of how to put these concepts into practice. I recently completed my PhD in science education. My dissertation research focused on science learning in childrenrsquo;s gardens. I was completely lost in my research until I found this book. It provided the research and concepts that I needed to guide my dissertation research. There isnt another book available that covers childrens outdoor environments as thoroughly as Designing Outdoor Environments for Children.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Inspirational and Informative!By Jackie McCabeDesigning Outdoor Environments for Children has been an invaluable resource for our local PTOrsquo;s school yard redevelopment committee. We have been putting in place plans to transform a sea of blacktop at our local elementary school into an eco-friendly; sustainable play area; and this book has provided critical inspiration and step-by-step guidance at every turn. I highly recommend this important reference to all parents; educators; and professionals who are involved in planning an ecological school yard or playground!
