The Enterprising City Centre reveals exemplars of local partnership working; the development and delivery of realistic implementation plans; and the range of instruments available to create both an improved quality to the urban environment and enhanced commercial and cultural competitiveness of our major city centres. That this was largely delivered in Manchester within a five year period of intensive development and renewal activity amply demonstrates the value of such experience for wider dissemination.

The *complete* guide for wellness center developers and designersBy AudiophileThis book is a highly useful treatise on:(1) What a wellness center is; and why there is interest in them among both the general public and healthcare providers;(2) What the philosophical content and intent of a wellness center is; or should be;(3) The balance-sheet economics of one successful wellness center; and(4) An architects cookbook for wellness centers; complete with square-foot level programming information for each of the many functions a wellness center can contain.Aimed at an audience of designers; it will also be useful to hospital facility planners and managers; or anyone in the general public who is curious about this subject. The publisher has put a high price on this book; but the specialized; experience-based information the author provides makes it is worth every penny.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A wealth of informationBy CustomerMy first introduction to this book was when I met; worked with and befriended the author. It is packed full of information on Wellness Centers but also provides a great discussion on the business case for the development of this building type. Inspired by her mothers battle and death from breast cancer; Joan Whaley combined her training as an architect; her talent as a writer; and her passion to teach others how to live for optimal wellness in the creation of this book. Sadly; Joan herself lost her own personal battle with cancer last year. However; this book is a continual reminder of her positive and outgoing energy and her enthusiam for life.
